LONGVIEW, Wash. (TCN) — An 11-year-old boy is now without his parents after his mother stabbed his father and his father shot his mother during an argument on Halloween. Both died from their injuries.
According to the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office, on Oct. 31 at 6:05 p.m., the emergency communications center received a call about a shooting at a home on the 4700 block of Olympia Way. Deputies arrived and located 38-year-old Juan Antonio Alvarado Saenz and 39-year-old Cecilia Robles Ochoa injured in the kitchen. Medics and the deputies on scene provided first aid, but Robles Ochoa and Alvarado Saenz were declared deceased at the scene.
An autopsy determined Alvarado Saenz died from stab wounds to the chest, while Robles Ochoa suffered fatal gunshot and stab wounds. Alvarado Saenz reportedly stole the gun from his employer, who did not know the gun was missing until after the fatal incident.
The sheriff’s office said Alvarado Saenz and Robles Ochoa “were assaulting each other, but investigators are unable to determine a primary aggressor.”
Alvarado Saenz and Robles Ochoa were married, but the sheriff’s office said they “had relationship issues and intended to separate.” The couple lived together in the Olympia Way home with their 11-year-old son, who was in another room playing video games when the shooting and stabbings occurred. The boy was reportedly wearing earbuds but called police when he discovered his parents.
