Rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested in New York City on Sept. 16 and charged in federal court with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He pleaded not guilty. A judge ordered him to be held without bail, which Combs’ attorneys appealed, arguing he was “not a flight risk or a danger to anyone in the community.” His legal team argued he should be released on $50 million bond with his Miami home and his mother’s home as equity, plus house arrest with a GPS monitor and a restriction of female visitors.
However, a judge twice denied the appeal. Combs is due in court on Oct. 10 with a new judge.
Combs is also facing multiple lawsuits in civil court. On Oct. 2, Houston-based attorney Tony Buzbee announced at a press conference that he is representing 120 people in a sweeping lawsuit against the rapper. Buzbee said the claims he plans to bring against Combs include violent sexual assault or rape, sexual abuse, facilitated sexual abuse, facilitated sex with a controlled substance, false imprisonment, compelling prostitution, dissemination of video recording, and sexual abuse of minors. Buzbee said the youngest victim was 9 years old at the time of the purported incident.
According to Buzbee, the abuse allegedly occurred between 1999 and 2024, with the majority occurring after 2015.
