LAS VEGAS (TCN) — Police arrested a 41-year-old man they allege followed his ex-wife and her new girlfriend and shot them, killing the girlfriend and injuring his estranged spouse.
According to a statement, on Jan. 3 at 4:44 p.m., Adrian Rodriguez-Guillen called the Las Vegas Metro Police Department and said he shot a woman near Blanton and Sacks drives. Officers arrived on the scene and found two vehicles in the middle of the street with two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the other was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
KLAS-TV identified the deceased victim as 40-year-old Adriana Herrera. She reportedly sustained gunshot wounds to the head and body.
Rodriguez-Guillen and his ex-wife were reportedly together for 24 years and have seven children together. They wed in 2001 and divorced in 2013 but maintained an on-again, off-again relationship. KLAS reports the ex-wife, Herrera, and Rodriguez-Guillen all worked together at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, and that the two women struck up a relationship about a year and a half ago.
The ex-wife reportedly ended her relationship with Rodriguez-Guillen for good about two months ago, but he allegedly “did not take the breakup well.” KLAS reports Rodriguez-Guillen allegedly threatened the two women and said he would “kill them and send them to hell.”
On Jan. 3, the ex-wife went to pick up Herrera. Rodriguez-Guillen reportedly parked his car in a spot where the women could not see him, then blocked them in as they started driving away. They managed to reverse the car, but Rodriguez-Guillen followed them and cut them off nearby before getting out and opening fire.
Officials believe Rodriguez-Guillen did not mean to strike or injure his ex-wife.
Clark County court records show Rodriguez-Guillen is being charged with open murder with the use of a deadly weapon, attempted murder with use of a deadly weapon, first-degree kidnapping resulting in severe bodily harm, first-degree kidnapping with use of a deadly weapon, burglary while in possession of a firearm, and eight counts of discharging a gun at/into an occupied vehicle.
A judge reportedly denied him bail.
