NORFOLK, Va. (TCN) — A married couple was arrested for allegedly stabbing and disemboweling a pizzeria employee because of what they claimed was a “botched order.”
According to WAVY-TV, on Nov. 17 at approximately 2:25 p.m., Norfolk Police Department officers received a call about an incident at MOD Pizza on Premium Outlets Boulevard and located a man with several stab injuries. Medics transported the 24-year-old victim to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Court documents cited by WAVY allege one of the suspects, Catherine Harper, started arguing with the victim because she claimed he messed up her order. She reportedly contacted her husband, Corey Harper, and asked if he could come and “handle the situation.” When Corey Harper arrived, he allegedly began stabbing the victim. One of the cuts reportedly caused such a deep gash that the wound exposed his intestines.
Corey Harper and Catherine Harper reportedly then fled the restaurant but were later caught and apprehended.
Court records show Corey Harper and his wife are both charged with assault — malicious wounding and brandishing a firearm. Corey Harper is facing an additional charge of brandishing a firearm.
MOD Pizza said in a statement they were “dismayed to learn about an argument inside our Norfolk-area Lake Wright restaurant involving one of our employees and two guests.”
The statement continued, “Moments like these force organizations to re-examine employee training and look for ways to reinforce values and expectations. We are fully cooperating with the Norfolk Police Department in their investigation. Our top priority is creating a fun and inspiring place to work and a great place to eat.”
